The Minister of Defense did not specify when exactly Ukraine received weapons from Germany.

Head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak confirmed the transfer of Mars II MLRS by Germany to Ukraine.

MLRS Mars II (Mittlere A rtillerie Raketen System) - German multiple launch rocket system, which was in service with the Bundeswehr in 1990 and is actually a licensed copy of the American M270 MLRS with minor modifications.

The artillery part of the system consists of two disposable blocks, each of which accommodates six transport and launch containers with rocket-propelled ammunition of 227 or 237 mm caliber. Such MLRS are capable of hitting targets within a radius of 45 to 70 km, depending on the ammunition..



The system is designed to destroy accumulations of enemy manpower and equipment, artillery batteries, air defense, command posts and communication centers, as well as to install minefields by remote mining.

Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov said that Ukraine received Gepard self-propelled artillery mounts and several thousand ammunition for them from Germany. So far, there will be only three of these in service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but in total Berlin promised to transfer 15 self-propelled guns.
