More than two thousand Ukrainian orphans have been illegally taken to Russia since the beginning of the aggressor's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, said Anna Kuznetsova, former children's ombudsman, deputy head of the State Duma of the Russian Federation.

“Now more than two thousand. Some of the children have already returned back to their institutions, to the Lugansk orphanage, ”Russian media quoted Kuznetsova.

Kuznetsova also confirmed that the stolen children are being given up for adoption to Russian families and "

“Work is underway to find foster families for them, including in Russia. In addition, there is another solution to the problem - these are cadet corps. Two cadet corps will be opened on the territory of Lugansk,” she said..

According to the ex-ombudsman, about 800 thousand people received Russian citizenship in the occupied territories of Ukraine.

Earlier, Ukrainian presidential commissioner for children's rights Daria Gerasimchuk said that the Russian Federation illegally deported more than 180,000 children, including about 2,000 orphans, to the temporarily occupied territories.. Some of the children were sent to Russia.

By decree of the President of the Russian Federation, Ukrainian orphans began to be given Russian citizenship under a “simplified procedure”. And in the temporarily occupied territories of the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, newborns are forcibly recorded as “citizens of the Russian Federation”.

In fact, the Russian Federation, in violation of international humanitarian law and elementary standards of humanity, is engaged in state-organized abduction of children.
