The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense received confirmed information that Russian troops continued planning for the war for the next 120 days until October 2022. Kremlin forces have an additional 40 battalion tactical groups (BTGs) in reserve, following a previous deployment to Ukraine of 103 BTGs. This statement was made by Deputy Head of the Department Vadim Skibitsky.

He clarified that the Russian forces would adjust the plan depending on the success in the Donbass and noted that the Russian General Staff changes invasion plans almost every month.. This and other details regarding changes on the front line over the past day are stated in the latest report from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

Skibitsky's statements indicate that Moscow, at a minimum, admitted that they could not quickly achieve their goals in Ukraine.

“It is unlikely that the report on the presence in the Russian Federation of an additional 40 BTGs for the Ukrainian front means that Russian forces retain 40 full-fledged and effective battalion tactical groups in Russia. It is most likely that these groupings are a small collection of personnel gathered from other units.. In addition, the Russian military is unlikely to keep such a significant part of its forces in reserve due to the ongoing lack of manpower in existing forward units,” Ukrainian intelligence data in ISW \u200b\u200bcommented..
