The Kyiv Council will appeal to the government regarding the creation of a military cemetery in the capital for honorary burials of the defenders of Ukraine. It is proposed to equip such a cemetery near the Babi Yar tract, Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko said during a meeting of the Kyiv City Council.
“Ukraine is experiencing a great tragedy today and is going through great trials - our soldiers, patriots, heroes of the Ukrainian nation are dying for the freedom and independence of our state. And our duty is to honor their feat and the memory of the heroes. Therefore, we propose that the Kyiv City Council, I am sure, will turn to the government to create a military cemetery in the capital for honorary burials of the defenders of Ukraine.. We are talking about a symbolic place in our history - next to the natural boundary of Babi Yar,"
According to him, the city authorities are ready to take on all the costs associated with the arrangement of the military cemetery..
“But support is also needed at the national level in matters of documentary support, perhaps even the adoption of a separate law of Ukraine on this issue.. I am convinced that Kyiv should implement this project together with the state,” Klitschko added..

It should be noted that the old military cemetery in Kyiv, where the participants of the Second World War are buried, is located on Dorohozhichy near the Kyiv TV tower, which suffered a missile strike by Russian troops in March..
