During the shelling on May 30, three monks of the Svyatogorsk Holy Dormition Lavra were killed. This was announced on June 1 by the head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration Pavlo Kirilenko on Telegram and the website of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate (UOC-MP). However, the UOC-MP again kept silent about the fact that the Russians fired at the Lavra.
“Today, we managed to clarify information about the three dead in the Svyatogorsk Lavra,” Kirilenko said, before he reported that this shelling was carried out by Russian occupation troops.
The UOC-MP reported that the shelling of Svyatogorsk led to destruction in the Svyatogorsk Lavra, two monks and a nun were killed, three more were injured.
“During the shelling, the charitable Lavra Archimandrite Galaktion, the monk Aristocles, the nun Varvara were killed.
Hieromonks Joasaph and Amphilochius, as well as Hierodeacon Alipiy, were wounded. The number of dead and injured laymen is still unknown,” the UOC-MP reported, without specifying that this shelling was carried out by the Russian army.

Recall, on May 27, the Synod of the UOC-MP stated that it did not agree with the head of its own church, Patriarch Kirill, on the issue of Russia's attack on Ukraine. However, this step helped the UOC-MP prevent a ban on functioning in Ukraine.
