It is too early to talk about the strategy for the next heating season, which may become even more difficult than the last one.. After all, everything will depend on the price of gas and electricity, said in an interview with ZN. UA Deputy Head of the Kyiv City State Administration Mykola Povoroznyk, with whom Alla Eremenko spoke. At the same time, he added that if the people of Kiev do not pay for the previous heating season, the next one will be more difficult to start..

“All services were provided to residents in the capital. Therefore, you need to pay for services. Thanks to anti-crisis decisions, which were made primarily at the local level (we managed to contain the rise in prices for services, despite the increase in gas prices), the heating season 2021/2022 was able to pass without sharp disruptions. For Kyiv, on average, until April 1, this requires approximately 1.5 billion cubic meters of gas, in addition to other necessary components,” Povoroznyk said..

According to the deputy head of the Kyiv City State Administration, he does not know if the children will go to school on September 1, but he knows for sure that heating will need to be turned on on October 15, primarily in schools, kindergartens and medical institutions.

“Therefore, we are already technically preparing a central heating system for this. A lot will depend on the price of natural gas and the price of electricity.. We don't have answers to these questions yet.. Therefore, we will talk about the strategy when these unknown values become known. Now we need to technically prepare the city heat and power complex in order to turn it on in time. And a big role in this is played by payment for already provided services for the supply of heat.. We have repeatedly appealed to the people of Kiev with this request, and Vitali Klitschko, and I have talked about this,” said Povoroznyk.

At the same time, according to him, now it is impossible to name any specific figure of the debt, in particular, for gas and heating.. So, as of April 27, as Povroznik noted, the debt of Kyivteploenergo subscribers did not much exceed 50% of the corresponding amount payable..

" But the people of Kiev come back and pay the debt, realizing that, despite their absence, heat and gas are spent on heating their homes.. Therefore, every day the amount of payments is growing,” added the deputy head of the KSCA.

Next heating season promises to be even tougher. However, Povroznik said that the authorities “have no other choice but to provide Kyiv with heat, gas, water, and sewerage”.

“A significant part of the city’s budget is directed to this.. But there is no certainty on prices for gas, electricity. If the residents of Kyiv do not pay for the last heating season, it will be more difficult to start the next heating season. All this must be understood.

This situation is similar to the situation with bomb shelters.. You can sit and wait for the city to do (pay) or Klitschko, or you can pay on time at least as much as they can,” Povoroznik added..
