Russia plans to export grain from temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. Such actions of the Russian invaders can lead to starvation not only in Ukraine, but also in the world, said Lyudmila Denisova, Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada.

“Residents of the TOT AR of Crimea report that they have recently noticed an increase in the number of freight trains, on the wagons of which “grain” is written. All of them belong to the “North Caucasian Railway,” Denisova said in a Facebook post..

According to her, the trains are heading to the railway stations bordering the Kherson region.. TOT AR of Crimea does not have its grain reserves for export in such quantities.

“Kherson region and Zaporizhzhia region give large crops of grain and at present a large number of granaries are located there. So the aggressor obviously intends to take out Ukrainian grain. A few weeks ago, rashists already stole grain from the Berdyansk port,” Denisova notes..

Eyewitnesses from the Autonomous Republic of Crimea report that the sale of vegetables exported from the temporarily occupied territory of Kherson has begun on the peninsula.

The removal of grain and foodstuffs from the occupied territories is a violation of Article 55 of the 1949 Geneva Convention for the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War.

Denisova appealed to the UN Commission to Investigate Human Rights Violations during the Russian military invasion of Ukraine to take into account these facts of human rights violations by the invaders in Ukraine.

Recall that the war in Ukraine to one degree or another worsened the condition of 1.7 billion people around the world, a third of whom were still below the poverty line..

The United Nations has once again warned that the blockade of Ukrainian ports by Russian troops is fraught with a global food crisis, which will lead to hunger, mass migration and political instability.

As UN World Food Program Executive Director David Beasley noted, Ukraine's silos are overflowing with grain, which in a typical year helps feed 400 million people worldwide.. But due to the Russian war against Ukraine, the supply chain has been disrupted, and ports cannot operate normally near the center of the war zone..
