Since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, 1,982 civilians have died. According to the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, 4,633 Ukrainian civilians have suffered since the start of the war..

Among those killed were 511 men, 323 women, 34 girls and 56 boys, as well as 72 children and 986 adults, whose gender has not yet been determined..

2,651 civilians were injured.

It is noted that most civilian casualties were caused by shelling from heavy artillery and multiple launch rocket systems, rocket and air strikes..

OHCHR also reports that actual casualty figures are much higher as information from some areas of intense fighting is delayed and many reports are still awaiting confirmation. This applies, for example, to Mariupol, Izyum, Popasna and Borodianka.
