The UN World Food Program called for unhindered access to families in conflict zones and besieged cities of Ukraine.

" Another thing is when they die of hunger, ”WFP Executive Director David Beasley is quoted on the WFP (World Food Program) website..

The UN says getting safe access to cities like Mariupol, where more than 100,000 people are trapped, is key.. Surrounded village runs out of food and water. Humanitarian aid has not been allowed there for about two weeks.. Also, Nikolaev remains inaccessible due to active fighting in the area..

WFP chief Beasley traveled to Bucha on Thursday to see firsthand the operations being carried out in the area with the help of local church communities.. He talked to women and children in the center for displaced persons.

" The horror of war is so visible here, and I think with trepidation what these people survived,” he said, walking through streets littered with unexploded mortar shells and visiting a bombed-out orphanage.

Over 7 million people are considered internally displaced in Ukraine, pre-conflict supply chains to feed the country's population have broken down in many areas. The WFP estimates that one third of the country's population and more than half (60%) of the internally displaced are concerned about finding enough food to meet basic needs..

Recall that in the Lugansk region, after the strikes of the Russian invaders, there were no surviving hospitals left, all were damaged. However, doctors in the region continue to provide assistance.
