The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has established the procedure for the use of firearms by civilians during martial law. This was announced by the representative of the Cabinet of Ministers in the Verkhovna Rada Taras Melnychuk.

“The procedure for the use of firearms by civilians when participating in rebuffing and deterring the armed aggression of the Russian Federation and / or other states against Ukraine during the period of martial law has been approved,” the report says..

Thus, firearms and ammunition for them may, if available, be issued to civilians who wish to participate in the repulse of armed aggression and who meet the established requirements..

Decisions on the issuance of weapons and ammunition for it are made by the heads of authorized bodies in the administrative-territorial units of the territories where martial law is declared, or by persons authorized by such heads of bodies.

Issued firearms and unused ammunition to them are subject to return by a civilian until the termination or cancellation of the martial law in Ukraine to the bodies of the National Police of Ukraine or is confiscated by them in case of self-withdrawal from participation in the repulse of armed aggression.
