Support for NATO is falling in Ukraine, but EU commitment is growing - opinion poll

The level of support for Ukraine's entry into NATO after the alliance's passivity on the issue of helping Ukraine in the war against Russia has waned. So, if in the first days of the war, support for Ukraine's entry into the Alliance increased from 62 to 76%, in the first week, support decreased to 72%, and as of the end of March it is 68%, that is, close to pre-war figures, according to a study by a sociological group.

At the same time, public support for EU accession is growing.. If in the first days of the war there was an increase from 68 to 86%, then by the end of March this figure is 91% - an absolute record for all the years of research.

At the same time, the majority of citizens, namely 56%, are convinced that Ukraine will become a member of the European Union within one or two years, 23% - in five years.. Over the month, the number of those who believe that Ukraine will join the European Union in a very short term has slightly decreased (from 61% to 56%), and the number of those who believe in joining the Union in five years has increased (from 13% to 23%).



The seventh nationwide survey during the war among the population of Ukraine aged 18 years and older was conducted on March 30-31 in all regions, except for the temporarily occupied territories of Crimea and Donbass, among 1,500 respondents. The sample is representative by age, gender and type of settlement. Survey method: CATI (Computer Assisted Telephone Interviews - telephone interviews using a computer). The error of the representativeness of the study with a confidence probability of 0.95: no more than 2.5%.
