From February 24 to March 28, the UN recorded 3,039 civilian casualties: 1,179 killed, including 104 children; 1,860 injured, including 134 children, mostly from shelling and airstrikes. At the same time, real losses are much higher, since there is no access to a large number of territories where fierce battles are constantly taking place.. Reported by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.

According to the Office, the statistics are as follows:.

1179 deaths: 236 men, 172 women, 15 girls and 34 boys, and 55 children and 667 adults whose gender has not yet been determined.

1,860 injured: 209 men, 157 women, 34 girls and 26 boys, as well as 74 children and 1,360 adults whose gender has not yet been determined.

Donetsk and Lugansk regions: 1337 cases (388 dead and 949 injured).

Government-controlled territory: 1,042 cases (326 dead and 716 injured).

Territory controlled by self-proclaimed "

Other regions of Ukraine (in the city of Kyiv, as well as in Cherkasy, Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Kherson, Kiev, Mykolaiv, Odessa, Sumy, Zaporozhye, Dnipropetrovsk and Zhytomyr regions), in places that were under the control of the Government at the time when the death or civilians were injured: 1702 cases (791 dead and 911 injured).

In the vast majority of cases, civilian casualties were provoked by “the use of explosive devices with a wide area of \u200b\u200beffect, including shelling from heavy artillery and multiple launch rocket systems, as well as rocket and air strikes”.

“UNHCHR believes that the real numbers are much higher as many reports from places where such incidents have taken place still require additional confirmation, while receiving information from some places where fighting continues is delayed.

This applies, for example, to Mariupol and Volnovakha (Donetsk region), Izyum (Kharkiv region), Popasna (Luhansk region), and Trostyanets (Sumy region), where numerous civilian deaths or injuries were reported.. They are subject to further verification and are not included in the above statistics,” the UNHCHR concluded..
