The Ministry of Internal Affairs presented the Unified Register of Weapons of the Unified Information System of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The presentation of the register of weapons took place at the first national conference on preventing and combating illicit trafficking in weapons, ammunition and explosives in all its manifestations, which was held as part of a joint project between the OSCE and the Ministry of Internal Affairs on February 15-16 in Kiev, according to the website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs..

The conference participants noted the importance of consolidating efforts to develop a weapons control system and counteract offenses related to weapons, ammunition and explosives.

Recently, Ukraine has faced the risk of illegal circulation and uncontrolled domestic circulation of weapons, which is associated with:.

arms supplies to the occupied territories in the south and east of the country,.

“Ukraine needs an enhanced response to the illicit circulation of weapons, ammunition and explosives based on a strategic government approach,” said Deputy Interior Minister Serhiy Goncharov.

For the first time since the independence of Ukraine, the order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs approved the provision on the Unified Register of Weapons of the UIS of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as a subsystem of the unified information system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

“The purpose of registering firearms is to support the effective prevention and investigation of crimes. This can be achieved using a single system that will be the same for all ministries and departments and updates information in real time and has a comprehensive query menu,” Goncharov noted..



The work of the Unified Register of Weapons of the UIS of the Ministry of Internal Affairs will ensure effective control of the entire cycle of use of weapons, the process of licensing, granting permits, acquisition, possession, verification and neutralization.

Recall, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant-General Valeriy Zaluzhny, said that in the near future they plan to attract from 1.5 to 2 million motivated citizens to serve in the reserve of the Territorial Defense Forces.
