For the first time, an expedition of Ukrainian climbers conquered the highest mountain of Antarctica

On Monday, January 10, the first expedition of Ukrainian climbers began climbing to the highest point of Antarctica - the Vinson massif, 4,892 meters above sea level, reports the Dnieper Panorama.

The expedition included 10 people from different parts of the country: Dnipro, Kharkov, Kiev, Lvov and Luhansk region. Prior to this ascent, Mount Vinson was conquered by only 7 Ukrainians.

Mount Vinson has gained popularity among amateur climbers as one of the 7 Summits program, which involves climbing the highest mountains of all continents.. So far, only three Ukrainians have managed to complete this program..

Chile became the first point in the expedition route. From there, the Ukrainians reached the Glacier of the Commonwealth by plane, and it was here that their ascent began..

And already on January 14, the first Ukrainian expedition to Vinson in full force successfully climbed to the top.

Ukrainians are now completing their journey and heading home. Now the climbers have a connection and they share photos of their ascent.
