Chestnut, growing in the courtyard of the house number 18 on the street Noble, is in danger - it wants to cut down the owners of the hotel, located in one of the outhouses of the house. The tree is not less than a hundred years old, the tenants of the house and experts-botanists fight for his salvation for the second year.
Apparently, this is the oldest chestnut in the city, a height of 24 meters and a trunk diameter of more than a meter, although it is not listed in the register of the nature reserve fund of the Odessa region. According to the publication "Dumskaya", a botanical expert, associate professor of the biological faculty of Odessa National University named after Mechnikov Elena Popova believes that it must be taken under the protection of the state.
The owners of the hotel differ, they think that the tree hinders the future parking of the hotel:
not only does it take a whole car place, but in the autumn heavy chestnuts fall from it, which can damage the client's "Lexus" ... Businessmen managed to convince the municipal department of ecology that the chestnut is sick, and get the go-ahead for its demolition. However, expert Popov, believes that the tree will live many more years. You just need to cut down the dry branches and keep the asphalted section around the trunk.
Gorzelenttrest, where the journalists addressed the "Duma", promised in a short time to understand the situation and give their opinion.
