Ukraine successfully passed the IMO audit

The International Maritime Organization has completed the verification of Ukraine to fulfill its obligations in the field of maritime safety.

Ukraine has been audited by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), State Secretary of the Ministry of Infrastructure Andriy Galushchak told Facebook.

"Ukraine has successfully passed the IMO audit and now occupies a worthy place among the world's leading maritime powers," he wrote.

Galuschak recalled that since 2016 this audit became mandatory for all IMO member states. He also noted that 80% of the world's freight traffic - sea. And every sixth sailor in the world is Ukrainian. "If we failed this audit, the development of our seaports and the involvement of world companies could be crossed. Tens of thousands of Ukrainians would lose decent work, because their documents would be quoted at the level of garbage Russian, "he said..



According to the Secretary of the Minister of Infrastructure, when conducting an audit to Ukraine there were less than 10 comments and one caution, with an average number of comments per country based on audit results - more than 22.

In Ukraine, an audit of the International Maritime Organization began on June 11, 2018. The purpose of the audit was to verify the compliance of Ukraine with its international obligations in the field of maritime safety.
