Reduction of harmful emissions into the atmosphere by 80% and refusal to use gas - Azovstal presented a program for the modernization of blast furnace No. 3. The experts familiarized with the plans for nature protection, representatives of public organizations and local authorities, and the first thing they were interested in was the protection of the environment. Excursion to "Azovstal" was held personally by the general director of the metallurgical plant Enver Tskitishvili. In particular, he showed the work of a complex launched in 2017, which feeds pulverized coal into blast furnaces. It is for its use instead of the deficit gas passes "Azovstal". "All flue gases are completely disposed of - they pass through electrostatic precipitators and then through a bag filter," explained the director of the steelworks. The greatest attention is paid to the reconstruction of blast furnace number three. It is planned to be completed by the end of 2018, and the work will cost two billion hryvnia. The furnace will have to be completely stopped in order to install new equipment. Such modernization will make the furnace one of the most modern in Europe. The blast furnace itself will be transferred from the gas to the pulverized coal mixture. The same work was carried out on the fourth furnace of "Azovstal". Due to modernization, emissions to the atmosphere should be reduced by 80%. "Such openness, which we demonstrate, is not demonstrated by anybody from industrial enterprises. We are currently considering a strategy on ecology, as a primary, "- said Tskitishvili. The schedule of implementation of the company's environmental programs is being complied with, the management of the Donetsk region. At the same time, in some areas, in particular, waste management, officials call for speeding up work. Meanwhile, environmentalists say that for the protection of nature it is necessary to use the money that polluters pay in the form of environmental taxes - as they do in some countries of the European Union. Meanwhile in Mariupol, the "Greensiti" program was prepared, which is planned to be approved by the City Council. Under this program, money for environmental protection will be given not only by the city budget, but also by the regional budget, and by the enterprises themselves.
