The funds will be invested in the formation of a new model of teacher education.

Finland intends to allocate to Ukraine 6 million euros for secondary education reform for a period of four years. This was reported by the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Lilia Grinevich, Interfax-Ukraine.

"This project will have an estimated cost of 6 million euros. It is designed for four years. This is not too much money for such a period of time, but we will invest these funds in the formation of a new model of teacher education. Because today we have an archaic model of teacher education, which provides young teachers with theoretical knowledge, but does not give them modern tools for working with children, "said Grinevich.

According to her, the Finnish government decided to support the reform of secondary education in Ukraine, in particular, pedagogical education and the transition to a new school.

Grinevich noted that before the start of the 2018/2019 school year, it is necessary to retrain 20 thousand. Teachers.

At the same time, in 2017/2018 academic year, a pilot project is starting, in which approximately four schools in the region (both rural and urban) will start working according to new standards.
