Researchers received pictures of frozen lava flows on the Red Planet and compared them to the streams at Niagara Falls. The photos were taken by the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO), which was launched in 2005, UNN reports with reference to the Independent. "The picture shows the northern edge of the crater with a diameter of 30 km, from which once flowed lava flows, leaving behind deposits.

It seems that the flows were not enough to fill or even cover the previously existing crater deposits, "- noted in NASA. This is evidenced by dark sections of lava that cover the old. The image shows that the Martian lava, which was once in a liquid state, behaved like ground water. Therefore, the published image series of researchers called the "Niagara Falls of Mars". Recall, earlier scientists found on Mars a mysterious hole.
