Harvesting campaign in the south of the Odessa region began with a strong delay

The harvest campaign-2017 began in the south of the Odessa region with a strong delay - June 20, ten days later than last year.

As reported in the regional council, this is due to the cold spring and the beginning of summer.

Harvesting of grain and leguminous crops is now conducted in 10 districts. The first to start Reni, Kili, Izmail and Artsis. 59,800 tons of cereals have already been harvested.

In total, under the harvest-2017, the agrarians of the Odessa region sowed 280.5 thousand ha of barley and 585.4 thousand. Hectares of wheat, and the total harvesting area of ??cereals is 1.5 million hectares. The remaining areas are sown with soy, vegetables, fodder and other crops.

In the event, 4,400 harvesters will be involved, including 1,157 vehicles from other regions of Ukraine.



"Until the end of June, we plan to end the harvest of winter barley," says farmer Sergei Parashchenko, "Next - peas and wheat. The weather contributes to fruitful work, although the hurricane recently passed ".

According to him, the harvest is expected to be good.

In the northern regions of the Odessa region, the harvesting campaign should begin, as usual, in the first ten days of July, the Balti farmer Yevgeny Kiforenko told "Dumskaya".
