On Wednesday, June 28, a simple way to protect your computer from the extortion virus, which was used by unknown hackers during its yesterday's attack.

Experts of the American company-developer of antivirus programs Symantec recommend to simulate the infection of the computer with the virus Petya.

They found that at the time of the attack the virus searches for any system file C: \ Windows \ perfc. If such a file already exists, then the virus exits without infection.

Symantec advises users to create such a file in the standard program "Notepad" (Editor). It is noted that you can use the extension. Dll, or do not specify an extension. An important point - you need to protect the created file from editing, that is, make it read-only.

It was also found that most often the extortion virus got into the computer systems of companies and organizations, disguised as a resume, sent to the e-mail of the personnel department on behalf of job seekers.
