Employees of cyberpolicy and various banks gave several universal advice that will help to save money and not get caught in the tricks of scammers.
Universal advice for payment card holders employees of the cyberpolicy and banks formulated at a press conference, the correspondent of the Ukrainian Information Service.
A year in the Odessa region recorded about fifteen hundred applications for fraud on the Internet and with payment cards. In Ukraine, this figure is 15 times larger.
Specialists noted that fraudsters are not that they keep up with modern technologies, but often test them before ordinary citizens. Employees of the cyberpolicy and representatives of the most reliable banks gave the residents of Odessa several recommendations that will help to save money on the account and not get caught in the tricks of scammers.
The old and kind advice is to cover your hand with a pincode when you enter it on the keyboard in an ATM. Then the criminals will not be able to fix with the help of a mini camera your data. As for the removable keyboard installed by the scammers, this is already a passed stage. The last time its use for reading the pincode was recorded in 2011. Such an adaptation is cumbersome and is easily recognized even by an unprepared person.
Seeming ridiculous advice, but very relevant - do not wear a card and pincode together. Do not write to the phone - it can be stolen, and when the mobile banking service is activated, this will create additional problems. It seems to be obvious, but, according to cyberpolicies, Odessa citizens still sin with such stupidity. If you can not remember the pincode - just change it, the benefit of almost all banks offer this service. Someone is free, someone - for 5 UAH. And remember: pincode must be stored only in the head.
Change your usual payment card to a card with a chip. Yes, it is necessary to pay a little, somewhere hryvnia 70. But so far no one has been able to read information from the "chip" card, but with the "magnetic" - it's easy.
Paying for services via the Internet, for example, replenishing the mobile account, beware of phishing sites. They are disguised as payment systems. Do not be lazy, google and read reviews, look at when and for how long the domain is registered.
By the way, preference should be given to payment sites with the domain "ua" - it is received only by firms that have issued a trademark. Scammers do not usually spend time on obtaining such a domain - it's about half a year, and they are registered on domains "in. Ua "," com. Ua "," biz. Ua "and more.
Do not share your card details with anyone.. Especially cvv2-code. This is three digits on the back of the card. Even if the fraudster appears to be a bank employee, remember - the bank already has all the data about you. And he certainly will not beg for a pincode.
