Even if you are not accustomed to swearing and do it not so often, you can easily hear abuse from the people around you, whether giggling schoolchildren or grumpy schoolchildren or grandfathers. Although curse is nothing more than entertainment for most people, it has been discovered that it has a medical value, writes likar. Info. For example, the cause of excessive abuse may be traumatic brain injury or depression in the elderly. Also, it can be associated with dementia and encephalitis (inflammation of the brain). The most famous, perhaps, use of curses and other forbidden phrases is the manifestation of Tourette's syndrome. That is why scientists show an interest in abuse and its potential physiological effects. As an example, a study published in 2009 showed that a loud negative expression of one's feelings improves the ability of participants to endure pain. Another study in 2011 showed that swearing helps to endure the cold. How does this happen? The basic theory is that, swearing, we include a reaction called "hit or run," which, in turn, reduces the feeling of pain. Swearing increases physical possibilities In a recent study on the study of curses, a group of scientists tried to understand what effect grumpy behavior has on strength and physical stress. Under the direction of Dr. Richard Stefan, senior psychology teacher at the University of Kila, Great Britain, a two-phase experiment was conducted, in the first part of which 29 participants were able to withstand a short but intense surge of activity while exercising on a stationary bike. Each participant had two attempts. During the first, they were asked to repeat aloud an abusive word, and in the second - a neutral. In the second part of the study, 52 participants had to undergo an isometric test with the same conditions. An analysis of the data obtained showed that swearing helped improve the test results for both groups. Swearing improves the ability to suffer pain.

No matter how amazing the results of the study seem, they only confirm the conclusions of previous experiments. It was previously established that swearing makes people more tolerant of pain. The possible reason is that it stimulates the sympathetic nervous system of the body, which causes our heart to work faster when we are in danger. Scientists will conduct a series of studies to study in detail the mechanism of the influence of abuse on our nervous system and physical capabilities.
