The Verkhovna Rada needs to return to work urgently. Because in her absence the most popular figure in the country suddenly turned out to be Viktor Yanukovich. About the former president talked all week. However, mostly law enforcement agencies and courts. First, the information space blew up the news of a billion and a half billion dollars owned by Viktor Fedorovich, who, by court order, were requisitioned and transferred to the state budget. Since for the first time since the victory of Maidan it was a substantial sum that belonged to the "former" and not "current" ones, the message aroused increased interest. True, at first no one really understood on what basis the money was withdrawn and what money was in question at all. Later it turned out that it was a question of the bonds of the internal state loan owned by the former First Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Arbuzov, which, of course, does not sound exactly like "Yanukovych's money". But let not just money and not quite Yanukovych, but they transferred them all the same to the state budget, and, that is characteristic, without the law on special confiscation. Also began the long-promised process of betrayal of the Motherland by the former president. But it has so far only formally begun. At first, the trial was postponed due to the dismissal of one of the judges, then the new staff did open the process, but immediately closed it for additional proceedings in connection with the statement of lawyers about the interference in the investigation of Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko. In response, his department said yesterday that it would demand life imprisonment for the former president. But the comments in social networks on this occasion were rather skeptical - from "life-long life" to "absentee release on bail". Skepticism was due to the fact that on the eve of the beginning of the trial, Interpol was stunned by a series of statements about the removal from the international search of almost the entire previous government - from Yanukovych and his family to the ex-head of his administration, Andrei Klyuev and ex-Minister of Fuel and Energy Eduard Stavitsky. Apparently, Interpol tired of waiting for evidence from Ukraine as to why all these "ex" should be sought. So the week turned out for the former president is contradictory. On the one hand, he was without money and under trial, on the other - is no longer wanted. PASSION GAZNUT? Besides all sorts of news about Yanukovych, it was a week of problems in connection with two dates - May Day and the anniversary of the tragedy in the Odessa Trade Union House on May 2. Absolutely without excesses, it was not the first or the second day, but in general the heat of passion and May 1 across the country, and on May 2 in Odessa was much lower than a year ago.

Demonstrations took place without serious provocation, the radicals did not prevent the holding of mourning events on the Kulikovo field, and indeed everything went without major incidents. Than to explain it - a slump in the activity of nationalists or a more rigid position of the authorities, it is difficult to say. However, the tendency to reduce the degree of tension in society is certainly positive. It is important that it be confirmed and May 9. LOCAL PRIORITIES. Reduction of radical tendencies was demonstrated also by the elections to the councils of the united communities that took place on April 30. True, at the same time, they showed a decrease in the confidence in Ukrainian party projects in general. The first place was taken by the results of the elections "Our Territory". To him, you can add other local projects - "Cherkassane", "United Center", "Stability". Of the all-Ukrainian projects, these elections were successful only for the "Opposition bloc" and the presidential "Solidarity", which, incidentally, also shows an increase in the confidence in the parties that put the economy first and foremost. DEBT OR SUBSIDY. There is an increasing awareness in society that social problems can not be solved either by revolutionary slogans or by ideological laws. However, while the shift in the ideology of recent years still makes itself felt, forcing the authorities to take new unpopular measures. This measure was the decision of the Cabinet to end the accrual of subsidies to those who are in arrears for housing and communal services.

From the point of view of the law, the decision may be correct, but from the point of view of social justice - a very contradictory. After all, if people are in arrears due to the fact that they could not pay even on accounts with allowance for subsidies, then without subsidies, this debt will grow even faster. SOCHIN MEETINGS. International politics in the outgoing week was not directly related to Ukraine, but it still revolves around the Ukrainian question. This became apparent at Sochi meetings of Russian President Vladimir Putin, who in recent days took in turn German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Turkish President Recep Erdogan. Merkel arrived in Sochi, on the eve of the start of the campaign in Germany, once again to express its principled position:

sanctions can be lifted only after the implementation of the Minsk agreements. What it is ready to contribute to. The complete opposite was the visit of Erdogan. The Turkish president practically did not concern the Ukrainian topic, mainly Syria was discussed, but the result was a mutual abolition of sanctions imposed after the annexation of the Crimea. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not yet responded.
