Today in Odessa there are 1311 participants of military operations on the fronts of World War II.

This was reported to the "Duma" in the municipal department of labor and social policy.

In addition, 8,927 residents of Odessa are participants in the war (who did not take part in hostilities) and family members of the dead servicemen, and 70,738 - the so-called "children of war".

Last year in Odessa lived 1914 front-line soldiers of World War II.

Recall that a serviceman of the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army or the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Navy, who took part in World War II and survived to this day, must have at least two mandatory awards - the Medal "For Victory over Fascist Germany" with the Stalin profile and Guards tape, as well as the Order of the Patriotic War, which in 1985 was awarded to all veterans of the Second World War and home front workers. If a person did not participate in the European campaign, but was in Manchuria, he should have a medal "For victory over Japan".
