Sellers in the Ukrainian wholesale markets are quite active in raising prices for potatoes. As evidenced by daily monitoring of "APK-Inform: Vegetables and Fruits". At the same time, analysts note that most sharply during the week, this product has risen in price on the wholesale market "Pochatok" (Odessa).
So, today, sellers in the Odessa wholesale market are ready to ship at 5.5 - 8 UAH / kg and this is an average of a quarter more expensive than in the middle of last week. Recall, a week earlier, these products went on sale at 4.5 - 6 UAH / kg.
The rise in prices for potatoes was also noted in the wholesale markets of Kiev and Lviv. Today, at Stolichniy (Kiev), potatoes are offered in bulk at 5.7 - 7 UAH / kg, and at the ORSP "Shuvar" - at 5.5 - 6.5 UAH / kg, which is more expensive than a week ago, 20% And 15% respectively.
The prices for potatoes in the wholesale market "Nezhdanna" remain unchanged for now (Kherson region. Here, as well as a week earlier, sellers sell potatoes on 5,3 - 6 UAH / kg. However, market operators do not rule out that in this market, too, products will soon rise in price, as the supply of potatoes is already quite limited.
The producers explain the current situation on the market by the fact that the supply of commodity potatoes has significantly decreased in recent weeks, and not all farms can already offer products that meet the requirements of buyers.
In general, potatoes in Ukrainian wholesale markets are at least a third more expensive than a year ago. Recall, at the end of April 2016, prices for potatoes here started from 3 UAH / kg.
As it was reported, the prices for vegetables of the so-called "borscht set" - cabbage, potatoes, carrots, beets and onions - since the beginning of this month have grown by more than 30%.
