Lefortovo court of Moscow extended arrest to journalist of "Ukrinform" Roman Sushchenko for 2 months - until June 30.

This is reported by the "Ukrainian Truth".

"The court ruled: the petition of the investigation to satisfy, extend the measure of restraint in the form of detention in respect of the accused Sushchenko for two months, that is until June 30, 2017," announced judge Margarita Kotova on Wednesday.

Thus, the court rejected the request of lawyer Mark Feigin to change his client's preventive measure against house arrest, which he could serve in the guest house of the Ukrainian Embassy in Moscow.

The meeting was held in closed session, because the case of Sushchenko has the stamp "top secret".

Before the commencement of the examination, the defendant and his defense asked to leave the meeting open, since no information constituting state secrets is ever discussed with the extension of the preventive measure.

"We deal only with the question of extending the term of detention, the content of the case is in no way concerned.

No issues related to the nature of the charges were previously discussed, "said Feigin, who also requested permission to shoot the trial.

Recall, on October 2, 2016, Russian media reported on the arrest in Moscow on September 30 of Ukrainian journalist Roman Sushchenko, who came there on a personal case. The FSB said that the detainee "is an employee of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine's GUR".

On October 7, the journalist was charged with espionage and arrested.

January 25 Lefortovo District Court of Moscow extended arrest of Suschenko for three months.
