Physicists with the help of a KM3NET neutral telescope, located at the bottom of the Mediterranean Sea, found a ghostly particle or neutrino with the highest energy among all known. This elementary particle arrived at Earth almost at the speed of light due to the limits of the Milky Way. Scientists have 12 potential sources of this neutrino. The study published in Nature magazine, writes Space.

Neutrino is often called ghostly particles, because they do not have a charge and they have an extremely small mass, and therefore it is very difficult to detect. In this case, neutrino fly almost at the speed of light through almost any objects in the universe. About 100 trillion neutrinos flies through your body every second.
At the bottom of the Mediterranean Sea at a depth of 3450 meters there is a neutrine telescope KM3NET, consisting of thousands of sensors for registration of neutrinos. It was this underwater detector that discovered a flash of light created by a particle of Muon, but the characteristics of this particle indicate that it was created when neutrinos with extremely high energy encountered another elementary particle.
Physicists determined neutrinos energy by the amount of light recorded by the underwater detector. It turned out that the energy of the neutrino is 220 million billion electron-volt. This is 30,000 more than particles can get when accelerated in a large adrone collider. To get such an energy of particles in the largest accelerator of particles on Earth 27 km long, it must have the length of the Earth equator, that is 40,000 km.
Scientists believe that neutrino with the highest energy arrived from the limits of the Milky Way and physicists have 12 potential sources of this particle. It is assumed that this is one of the 12 blazars, that is, objects that create super -massive black holes in the centers of galaxies. Often, black holes create, with active absorption of matter, very bright quasars and at the same time they come out of them jets of plasma length of hundreds of light years. If such a stream is directed towards the earth, then this object is called Blazar.
These jets also consist of high -energy particles called space rays and powerful electromagnetic radiation. When the particles of space rays are faced with other elementary particles in the galaxy, they send streams of high -energy neutrinos.
But physicists also believe that the neutrino discovered with the highest energy could arise during the collision of protons of cosmic rays with photon in relict radiation. It arose shortly after a large explosion, when photons, that is, particles of light, began to move freely along the universe.
If the last version is true, then physicists first discovered cosmogenic neutrinos. It is believed that such particles should exist, but they have never been found before.
As Focus already wrote, the phenomenon predicted by Einstein will help to reveal the secret of the dense stars.. The new way to study neutron stars will help to find out what they actually consist of.
Focus also wrote about the hypothesis of physicists, which changes the idea of \u200b\u200bthe universe, because it suggests the presence of special strange eras in its history.
