Scientists have recorded a magnetic storm on Earth associated with a coronal mass ejection that occurred on the Sun. The magnetic storm has been classified as a G2, medium.

A coronal mass ejection occurred on our star on March 11 and now the plasma stream has reached our planet.

Data from the Gismeteo website indicates that a weak magnetic storm will be felt on Earth tomorrow, March 16.

Spaceweather also reports that the Sun released a coronal mass ejection on March 13. What became its source is still unknown, but two active regions on the surface of the star are likely candidates..

If the coronal mass ejection were directed to the Earth, then the planet could be covered by a powerful magnetic storm. At the same time, it can be expected next week, as active regions will turn in our direction..

Magnetic storms are disturbances of the Earth's geomagnetic field with different duration and intensity.. They are associated with the streams of charged particles that the Sun throws out.. Magnetic storms can cause disruptions in communication, as well as affect the well-being of the elderly and weather-dependent people.. In particular, they may experience headache, dizziness, nausea, joint pain, fatigue, insomnia.

Recall that scientists also gave a forecast of magnetic storms for March.
