This week in Guangzhou, China, the world's first ship operating on electricity was launched, reports Renmin Ribao. Displacement of the ship is 2 thousand tons. Its total length is 70.5 meters, width - 13.9 meters, draft - 3.3 meters. The crew consists of six people. The power plant includes two electric motors with a lithium battery. When fully charged, the ship can swim 80 kilometers. It takes two hours to fully charge.

Thus, during recharging in the port it is possible to simultaneously process the cargo, since its process also takes about two hours. The vessel will carry cargoes along the Zhujiang River. It is reported that China will apply the technology of ships operating on "clean" energy for passenger and technical water transport. As reported, Volkswagen will invest 10 billion euros in the production of electric vehicles in China. Until 2025, the concern plans to launch 40 new models.
