The manufacturer of navigators and portable electronics TomTom went into loss due to weak sales of consumer products. The focus of the Dutch company on automotive solutions and licensing business is not yet bearing fruit.

In the third quarter of 2017, TomTom generated 217.7 million euro, or 9% less than in the same period last year. Net loss reached 5.3 million euros, while a year ago there was a net profit of 0.6 million euros. On an adjusted basis, profit was fixed at 18.8 million euros - 10% more than a year ago.

The main reason for the financial regress was the consumer business, whose volume in July-September 2017 fell by 29% year on year and amounted to 97.

2 million euros. Weak demand for personal navigators TomTom is trying to compensate for the release of smart watches, fitness trackers and other devices.

TomTom reports that in the third quarter of 2017, the company's revenue from the sale of navigation systems to automakers and sales of licenses for its products increased by 23%, to 81.1 million euros. Telematic solutions added to the turnover of the vendor 39.4 million euros against 36.5 million euros a year earlier.
