The Taiwanese manufacturer of displays AU Optronics (AUO) reported on the results of its work in the third quarter of 2017, reports DigiTimes.

The seasonal rise in demand for panels before the pre-holiday boom in the electronics market helped AUO achieve quarterly revenue growth of 3.5%, to 87.4 billion Taiwan dollars (2.89 billion dollars), even despite a downward trend in prices for displays.

The operating profit of the vendor has improved significantly and amounted to 9.74 billion Taiwan dollars (321.8 million US dollars), which is almost 70% more than the figures of the previous year. Net income also increased significantly - by 80.8% year-on-year, reaching 8.86 billion Taiwan dollars (about 293 million US dollars).

In addition, the report revealed that in July-September 2017 AUO delivered over 29 million large-sized panels (with a diagonal of more than 10 inches), improving the result of the previous quarter by 8.3%.

Shipments of panels of medium and small size in the same period increased by 21%, to 46.8 million units.

Also, the AUO estimated that the consolidated revenue of the company from the beginning of 2017 reached 260.36 billion Taiwan dollars (8.6 billion US dollars), and net profit was 28.16 billion Taiwan dollars (about 930 million US dollars).

The company expects that in the final quarter in the display industry will remain a favorable situation in terms of demand.
