The Government of India is currently considering the issue of preferences for Apple as part of the initiative to build a factory in the country to build smartphones iPhone, said on Thursday the head of the department of industrial policy and development Ramesh Abhishek. This department is part of the Ministry of Trade and Industry of India.
Apple appealed to the federal government with a request for a series of tax and regulatory changes that would allow to create in India the production of smartphones iPhone. In particular, the company seeks permission to open its own retail stores in India, where currently the iPhone is sold only through intermediaries.
India has provided a Chinese smartphone manufacturer Oppo opportunity to open their own mono-brand retail stores, which is a good sign for his rivals, such as Apple. The company from Cupertino asks for permission to open the Apple Store chain in the country to sell its products directly and develop its own branded services here.
However, there is a significant difference between the two companies. If Oppo delivers products available to many Indians, then Apple is going to offer in-store stores devices that only wealthy people can buy.
