The merger of the manufacturer of network equipment Brocade Communications Systems and the semiconductor company Broadcom again delayed, but the sale of business in the area of ??data centers will be processed faster than expected.

In November 2016, Broadcom announced the purchase of Brocade for 5.9 billion dollars and immediately announced the sale of network business absorbed by the company. Broadcom retained only those network assets that are associated with Brocade Fiber Channel SAN switches.

Initially, it was assumed that the deal to merge Broadcom and Brocade would be closed in July 2017, but now the deadline is pushed back to the beginning of November and then to the end of the same month, as companies have not yet received permission from the US Foreign Investment Committee.

The manufacturer of switches and routers Extreme Networks was going to purchase from Brocade for $ 55 million all assets related to network equipment for data centers, as well as to analytical tools, after the closing of the deal Broadcom and Brocade. According to new data, Extreme Networks will be able to get this business by early November or earlier.

In the third fiscal quarter, Brocade's profit was $ 68.6 million, down 25% year-on-year. Revenue fell by 7.1%, to $ 549 million.
