American company Tessera Technologies, specializing in the casing of integrated circuits (the final stage of microelectronic production, during which the semiconductor crystal is installed in the case), filed a lawsuit against Samsung Electronics, accusing the South Korean chipmaker of violating its patents. About this agency Yonhap became known from industry sources.

Tessera claims about 24 patented technologies relating to a wide range of semiconductor manufacturing processes and claims that Samsung used them in its Galaxy S6, S7 and S8 smartphones and Galaxy Note 8.

In the statement of claim it is noted that Samsung for 20 years used the patented technologies of Tessera within the framework of the license agreement with the company and its subdivisions, signed in 1997. The license expired in December 2016, but Samsung did not extend it, although Tessera believes that the South Korean giant continues to use the technology, without the necessary permission and without paying a fair compensation.

In Tessera, they said they filed complaints with the US International Trade Commission, three US federal district courts and a number of international authorities.
