Those lucky ones who managed to study the smartphone in person, recognize that his new OLED-display is objectively the best at the moment. Of course, it can not be called revolutionary. With a non-standard form of the screen, Android-manufacturers began to experiment as early as last year. But the fact that Apple did not become the first did not prevent her from creating a small masterpiece.

The cutout at the top of the display, where the Face ID and Animoji sensors are located, is not liked by all. But True Tone technology, which provides high brightness and incredibly accurate color rendering, is a real delight. Also worth noting is the very high density of points - 458 ppi (pixels per inch). Developers call this Super Retina.

Perhaps the main disadvantage of such an excellent screen can be considered the impact of the price of a smartphone. Advanced display adds $ 200 to a single cost of the gadget.

Powerful front camera.

In the average smartphone, the front camera is a trimmed version of the main rear camera. But in iPhone X, the situation is different. Here, the front camera has acquired the capabilities that the main back camera does not have. Thus, the rear camera is used exclusively to create high-quality photographs, and the frontal is assigned mainly social functions.

In general, in the cutout display on the front panel of the iPhone X hides a huge number of devices - an infrared camera, infrared illumination, proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, speaker, microphone, 7-megapixel front camera module and flash. All this is part of a system that Apple calls TrueDepth. Additional sensors are used by Face Face recognition system, Animoji animated smileys and many other interesting things. For example, it is thanks to TrueDepth that the front camera can take pictures in a unique portrait mode, in which the user can control lighting during post-processing of a photo.

Animoji - not just animated emoticons. These are virtual three-dimensional masks, which exactly repeat the facial expressions of the user.

Now, in order to convey this or that emotion, it is enough for the user to depict it on his own face, fix the picture and send the educated emoji in the correspondence. Although this function does not seem too serious and important, it should be recognized that its technical implementation is impressive.

About the high quality of the display, we already said. But its size, or rather, the ratio of the display area to the front panel area, is also a major advantage. Since the screen is stretched almost to the entire front panel of the smartphone, the user receives a larger image with smaller gadget sizes.

It's enough to compare iPhone X to iPhone 8. The diagonal of the iPhone X display is 5.8 inches and the height of the case is 5.65 inches. For the first time, Apple introduced a smartphone whose display diagonal exceeds the overall height of the device.

And no matter how much Tim Cook did not call the price of the flagship "reasonable", it would not be reasonable from it.

Lack of Touch ID.

As already mentioned, Face ID face recognition technology is very interesting from a technological point of view. But users are already used to the Touch ID. At the very beginning of the journey, fingerprint scanners were imperfect. They worked slowly, sometimes wrong. Now such problems do not arise. Technology is run-in and brought to perfection. Therefore, it is especially ironic that Apple decides to abandon it in favor of another innovation. Of course, it's in the spirit of the company. But users are fairly unhappy.

Unusual interface.

iPhone X does not have a Home button. "So what? , the user will be asked. - Today every second smartphone does not have hardware buttons ». So it is, so only iPhone X does not have a software simulation of the Home button. That is, this function does not exist in the system at all. This radically changes the entire navigation. Now the user will have to get used to a completely new system of gestures. For example, to close an application, you need to swipe down from the top. And to open the application menu, you need to swipe up, and then hold your finger on the screen.
