On Friday, September 22, Microsoft announced the increase in the capacity of its data centers located in the US and Europe. The company plans to similarly upgrade all its data centers used to operate the cloud infrastructure.
The latest updates have received data centers Microsoft Azure, located in Virginia and Amsterdam. Until the end of the year the site in Paris will also receive additional computing resources.
By these actions, Microsoft extends the so-called availability zones, when relatively close to each other data centers with their equipment, power supplies and cooling systems interact with each other, helping customers to quickly move workloads from one site to another when one of them has problems.
"Accessibility zones provide an additional level of fault tolerance in the event of a data center failure due to a fire or cooling problems," said Microsoft's Technical Manager Mark Russinovich,.
At present, Microsoft has 36 Azure data centers. Another eight objects are planned to be launched.
