Transport Management of London (TfL) refused to renew the Uber license for the right of passenger transportation. As representatives of the department, the online taxi service demonstrates "insufficient level of responsibility" and neglects the safety of customers.

The company came to London five years ago. The current Uber license expires on September 30, after which it will not be able to provide services in the UK capital.

Contrary to the requirements, the city authorities say, Uber did not notify about serious criminal offenses, neglected issuing checks and did not transparently issue medical certificates. Moreover, the company used Greyball, a secret program that calculated the employees of transport departments and did not allow them to call a Uber car from their smartphone, thus preventing them from collecting evidence of illegal activities.

In support of the TfL decision, the mayor of London, Sadiq Khan.

"All companies in London must play by the rules and adhere to high standards - especially when it comes to the safety of customers," he said.. - Innovative services should not be provided at the expense of customers' safety ".

"3.5 million Londoners who use our application and more than 40,000 licensed drivers who make a living with Uber will be amazed at this decision," said Uber general manager in London Tom Elvij. In order to appeal, the company has 21 days.
