The companies BlackBerry and Timex Group announced the conclusion of a patent license agreement, as reported in the official joint statement of the parties.

Any specific details of the contract, alas, are not disclosed. It is noted only that the agreement provides for payment of deductions from Timex Group in favor of BlackBerry.

Observers believe that the parties can engage in the joint development of "smart" watches. Such a gadget, apparently, will use the BlackBerry development in the field of software, services, data protection and various mobile technologies.

It is suggested that the new smart-clock in the case of their release will be targeted at business users. This commercially makes it possible to single out a novelty among the whole mass of "smart" chronometers that are currently on the market.

On the other hand, the agreement may only mean licensing the patented BlackBerry technology, but not using the brand or software of this company.

Unfortunately, there is as yet no clarity about the prospects for BlackBerry and Timex Group interaction.
