Not having stayed in the new position for a week, the new Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi faced another federal investigation into the company's actions. The FBI began to study the case of secret software, which Uber used in the period from 2014 to 2016 and which was called as Hell. It is reported that the program could track the drivers of the competitor's service Lyft and was used to lure to Uber those people who worked for both companies.
A Uber representative in an e-mail confirmed to Gizmodo that the company is cooperating with the FBI. He noted that the Hell program is no longer functioning, referring to the news item of the site The Verge.
Dara Khosrovshahi officially entered a new post on Tuesday and immediately faced a whole heap of problems. Investigation of the Hell program is just one of many recently.
The US Justice Department is currently trying to find out whether Uber violated the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, which prohibits bribery of foreign officials. There is also an investigation into another program called Greyball, with which the company avoided representatives of government regulators.
In addition, Uber is now in a state of litigation with Benchmark Capital and Waymo. However, even this is far from all the problems that the company faced during the entire stay of Travis Kalanick as general director.
