On 5 September, the European Court of Human Rights granted the complaint of Bogdan Barbulescu alleging that employees have the right to use e-mail for personal purposes. According to the court's decision, the robot is obliged to warn employees in advance about monitoring electronic communication.
The plaintiff was fired 10 years ago for using the Internet for personal purposes. As evidence of a violation of the company's internal order, he was presented with a transcript of his communication, where he exchanged messages with his brother and bride on personal issues.
The European Court of Human Rights ruled that the Romanian court ruled inappropriately. The court ignored human rights for the secrecy of correspondence and took into account only the interests of the employer in its decision.
