Why do smartphone manufacturers in no hurry to adapt USB-C?

The standard USB-C, actively promoted by some smartphone manufacturers, despite obvious advantages, still does not find response from others. It would seem that they should equip the device with the most advanced connector to date, from which all will only benefit? It turns out that there are at least three good reasons for this.

Indifference of users It so happened that not all consumers are concerned with the type of USB used in the production of their smartphone. As a rule, people who are far from being called geeks notice such features only when there is a need to charge the device outside the house. In addition, most people do not update their smartphones annually, and therefore probably do not even know about the existence of a new standard.

Compatibility Another reason why smartphone manufacturers are slow to adapt the USB-C standard is compatibility. Since such a connector at best has one device out of five, many companies do not see the sense in carrying out a revolution. Go to this step, they are waiting for the mass discontent of consumers, deprived of the opportunity to interact with the accumulated "park" of accessories.

And it's not just about the charging wires.

Internal causes It turns out that some manufacturers are not consciously going to this step, leaving the USB-C adaptation to better times, for internal reasons. So, in particular, Samsung entered, refusing to integrate the new standard in smart phones Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. The reason for this was the recent release of the helmet virtual reality Gear VR, which could be useless for millions of consumers who chose the seventh generation.
