Today, August 31, 2017, the British court began to consider the case of Daniel Kay (Daniel Kaye).

Recall that on July 28 the German court issued a decision providing for a suspended prison sentence of one year and eight months. The 29-year-old hacker, known under the nicknames BestBuy and Popopret, pleaded guilty to infecting routers and IoT devices with malicious Mirai software that was used to launch DDoS attacks.

After legal proceedings in Germany, the hacker was extradited to the UK. According to an official statement by the UK authorities, Kai is accused of using his own Mirai botnet, code-named Mirai # 14, to launch DDoS attacks on the Lloyds banking group and Barclays banks in January 2017.

Hacker is also accused of a DDoS attack that he committed against Lonestar MTN, Liberia's largest Internet provider.

During the trial in Germany, Kai said that an unknown person paid him $ 10,000 to attack the Liberian provider.

In addition, the Kayu InfoArmor report also attributes the creation of GovRAT malicious software used to infect computers and steal data from government and government organizations in the United States.

In November and December 2016, the hacker infected and cracked over 900,000 Deutsche Telekom routers in Germany, and 100,000 routers in the UK.
