Google introduced the ARCore platform, which will create applications to work with augmented reality on existing and future Android-smartphones. It does not require special hardware, as in the case of Tango.

A set for SDK developers ARCore today became available as a preview. According to Google, ARCore applications can work on millions of devices. From today - on Pixel and Samsung Galaxy S8, running the operating system Android 7. 0 Nougat. By the time the platform leaves the stage, it is planned to support 100 million devices. Google cooperates with manufacturers such as Samsung, Huawei, LG, ASUS and others.

ARCore focuses on three options. Firstly, by tracking the main points of space using a smartphone camera and sensors, the position and orientation of the smartphone during motion are determined, and the virtual objects remain accurately placed. Secondly, the features of the surrounding objects are determined, so that virtual objects are located on a table, floor or other relevant places. Thirdly, attention is drawn to ambient lighting, so that chiaroscuro and glare on virtual objects correspond to the environment.
