In the near future, video cards can rise in price due to lack of memory chips for them. About this publication DigiTimes sources in the supply channel.

According to their data, the GDDR memory deficit generates a shortage of graphics accelerators: it is expected that the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080, 1070, 1060 and 1050 adapters will grow by 3-10% at the end of August 2017.

From April to mid-July 2017, the sales of video cards were raised largely thanks to the popularity of systems for the production of crypto-currency. In the second half of July, this factor began to exert less force, and the supply of video cards and prices began to stabilize. Sales of products in retail began to increase.

However, prices may remain stable for a short time due to lack of video memory, which, in turn, will negatively affect the consumer demand.

According to DigiTimes, in August 2017, the memory used in graphics accelerators went up by 30.8% compared to the previous month - from 6.5 to 8.5 dollars.

The growth in prices for video memory will continue in September, and the shortage of products will be a big problem for manufacturers of video cards and laptops.
