Red Hat and Microsoft have announced a partnership in which companies will simplify container technologies to help enterprise customers quickly master hybrid clouds.
Among other things, Red Hat and Microsoft intend to implement support for Windows Server containers on the Red Hat OpenShift platform, support for Red Hat OpenShift Dedicated in the Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure, and support for SQL Server on the Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Red Hat OpenShift platforms. This should significantly simplify the work with containers and accelerate the digital transformation of enterprises using hybrid cloud environments, according to a press release.
After the implementation of the announced plans, Red Hat OpenShift will be the first container platform built on the basis of the open Kubernetes project, which will allow to perform Linux and Windows workloads on all hybrid cloud infrastructures.
Thanks to this, organizations will be able to remove the wall between Windows and Linux and greatly simplify the transition to cloud-based workloads, the company notes..
"Microsoft and Red Hat are keen to provide enterprise customers with the hybrid cloud solutions needed to upgrade IT systems in the face of the onset of the cloud era. Today, we are again joining forces to offer the market fully integrated solutions that will greatly simplify the transition to container applications and help customers to fully realize the potential of hybrid cloud environments, "said Azure leading architect John Gossman (John Gossman).
