Analysts DRAMeXchange registered almost 15 percent quarterly revenue growth in the world market of DRAM-memory for mobile devices. In April-June 2017, global sales of mobile "operatives" brought $ 6.2 billion against $ 5.4 billion in the previous quarter.
Among chipmeykerov expressed positive dynamics showed Samsung and Micron, while the smaller market participants Nanya and Winbond reported a decline.
The market leader, Samsung, again controlled more than 60% of the mobile DRAM market. The company earned $ 3.82 billion on sales of this product, which is 20.7% more compared to the previous three-month period.
SK Hynix's revenue increased by 4.3%, to 1.35 billion dollars, but the market share of the vendor declined by 2.2 percentage points, from 23.9% to 21.7%. Nevertheless, SK Hynix retained the second place.
For the second consecutive quarter, Micron has a market share of 15%, which reflects the company's strategy to strengthen the smartphone segment. In the past quarter, sales of mobile DRAM brought the US chipmaker 925 million dollars against 829 million dollars a quarter earlier (11.6%).
Taiwanese manufacturers Nanya and Windbond sales declined, which experts explain by a decrease in the share of mobile DRAM in the product range of these companies. In the last quarter, Nanya's revenue was $ 79 million, down 6% from the previous quarter. Winbond sales of mobile memory fell by 3.6%, to $ 38 million.
Taking into account such indicators, the companies' contribution to the aggregate result was estimated by analysts at 1.3% and 0.6%.
Analysts predict a further increase in revenue in the global mobile DRAM market in the third quarter of 2017 amid a seasonal rise in demand from smartphone manufacturers and a slight rise in the price of chips. It is also expected that industry leaders - Samsung, SK Hynix and Micron - will improve their profitability and increase revenue in this segment.
