The speed record of 4G networks is broken

The development of networks of the 4th generation continues and this time the record was broken just three companies: Verizon, Ericsson and Qualcomm Technologies.

Their joint work allowed to exceed the speed of 1 Gbit / s in 4G-networks, and the tests used exclusively available commercial and test equipment.

To be precise, the peak download speed was 1. 07 Gbit / s. The testing was conducted on Qualcomm Snapdragon X20 LTE - the first announced modem with support for LTE Cat. 18 - using LTE radio system and software from Ericsson.

Companies were able to increase the maximum data transfer rates, as well as throughput to 20%, using simultaneously 12 LTE streams. During the tests, all combinations of licensed frequency bands.
