The hacktivist movement Anonymous for the first time in a long time reminded of itself, attacking the National Health Service of Great Britain. Attackers hacked the system of recording at the reception of SwiftQueue, which serves eight medical institutions, and stole data from 1.2 million patients.

Representatives of SwiftQueue confirmed the leakage. According to them, hackers compromised only 32,500 "administrative data lines" containing such personal information of patients as names, dates of birth, phone numbers and e-mail addresses. As noted in SwiftQueue, some leaked data are test cases and relate to non-existent patients.

The leak did not affect medical records, and all passwords are securely encrypted.

According to Anonymous, the stolen amount of data is much larger than stated in SwiftQueue. According to the hackers, they managed to gain access to at least 11 million records, including passwords. "I think the public has a right to know how big companies like SwiftQueue handle important data. They can not even protect the information of patients, "- quotes the British edition of The Sun of one of the participants Anonymous.
