Experts of the analytical company Juniper Research have prepared a forecast for the development of 5G networks. According to analysts, in 2019, when the new technology will be commercially available, there will be only 1 million 5G connections in the world, but the rapid growth will lead to the fact that in 2025 the number of 5G connections will reach 1.4 billion. The average annual growth is projected at the level of 232%.
According to the forecast of Juniper Research, the lead in the implementation of 5G will be three countries: China, the United States and Japan.
Their share in the global number of connections in 2025 will be 55%. In this case, only the US will account for more than 30% of the 5G connections used for IoT.
Analysts believe that due to the specifics of the IoT requirements, ARPC, the average revenue per connection, will be very low. This will encourage providers to look for new business models that reduce operating costs. In particular, it is expected that software solutions will be widely implemented to meet the individual requirements for 5G IoT connections.
